
Kaiyang Tu
Associate Scientist, Strategic Support Group / Associate Scientist, Mid-IRKaiyang is an Associate Scientist within the Strategic Support Group and the Mid-Infrared (Mid-IR) Beamline at the Canadian Light Source. With over a decade of experience in infrared spectroscopy and imaging, Kaiyang provides specialized expertise and guidance to new CLS users, helping them harness advanced techniques for their research.
Kaiyang holds a background in physics, having completed undergraduate and master's studies with a focus on surface science at the Technical University of Munich. His introduction to the synchrotron community began during his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan, where he pioneered the application of time-resolved synchrotron Mid-IR spectroscopy for the in situ investigation of fast electrochemical reactions. Since joining CLS as a staff scientist, Kaiyang has worked extensively with academic researchers to integrate infrared spectroscopy and imaging into a wide range of scientific studies.
Outside of his professional role, Kaiyang enjoys spending time with friends and engaging in board games.
