Tibbers (Guanhua) Hao
Associate Scientist, Strategic Support GroupTibbers is an Associate Scientist within the Strategic Support Group at the Canadian Light Source (CLS). He specializes in X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) characterization and advanced data analysis, with a strong focus on integrating AI-driven computational techniques to extract insights from complex imaging and spectroscopy datasets.
Tibbers holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he became deeply involved with the synchrotron community. During his graduate studies, he conducted extensive research using soft X-ray techniques at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Following his Ph.D., he continued at ALS as a postdoctoral scholar, advancing the application of AI-based methods for scientific data analysis.
With over nine years of experience working with synchrotron user facilities, Tibbers brings expertise that bridges experimental synchrotron techniques and modern data-driven analysis. At CLS, he applies this unique combination to support users in addressing challenging scientific questions through innovative approaches.
